The American University of Sharjah seeks a forward thinking, self-starting Information Literacy Librarian to become listed on we and deliver effective student-centered library and information services through various modes. The IL Librarian will continue to work collaboratively to build up and deliver quality information literacy and digital literacy instruction to students, liaise with faculty to embed resources in to the curriculum, and offer individualized support to your community. Reporting to the Associate University Librarian for Public Services, the incumbent will establish instructional tools to help expand the library’s teaching and learning goals, will continue to work in close collaboration with teaching faculty. They’ll identify opportunities for outreach and partnerships on campus (particularly first year experiences) that engage and support undergraduate student success.
Ø Leads the provision of information literacy and assessment of student learning for continuous IL programming improvement.
Ø Supports opportunities for first year outreach along with other initiatives that improve student success.
Ø Build relationships faculty and instructors to integrate information, digital, and data literacy concepts and skills in to the curriculum.
Ø Departmental liaison responsibilities, including collection development and maintenance, instruction, along with other professional activities.
Ø Provision of reference assistance (face-to-face and virtual).
Ø Fosters and maintains strong links and networks with regional and international partners and within the sector, showcasing and disseminating best practice.
Ø American Library Association accredited Master’s degree in Library and Information Studies or equivalent
Ø The least 24 months of instruction and reference experience
Ø Demonstrated teaching ability and strong commitment to student learning
Ø Demonstrated understanding of the ACRL Standards and Framework for Information Literacy; effective IL pedagogies and assessment strategies.
Ø Capability to create student-focused instructional materials also to utilize appropriate digital resources to facilitate instructional goals. Ø Experience in instructional technologies such as for example learning management software and LibGuides.
Ø Strong service orientation, flexibility, and excellent interpersonal and organizational skills.
Ø Excellent interpersonal skills, like the ability to work inside a diverse multicultural environment.
