Transient overvoltage events, more known as surges commonly, were cited because the third leading reason behind downtime in a recent survey of commercial and industrial facility professionals, which includes managers, owners, building engineers, heads of maintenance, and associated occupations. The Electrical Safety Foundation International (ESFI) and National Electrical Manufacturers Association’s (NEMA) Low Voltage Surge Protective Devices Section (BI-VS) recently surveyed these professionals concerning power surge incidences, misconceptions , and using surge protective devices within their facilities.
Surge protective devices were seen as a success by most respondents, as 79% approximated that downtime and equipment failure has been significantly reduced.
