We’ve all heard it. “Facility management (FM) is really a profession that encompasses multiple disciplines to make sure functionality, comfort, efficiency and safety of the built environment by integrating people, place, technology and process.” 

That’s the way the International Facility Management Association (IFMA) defines it , and it’s pretty accurate.

But… it sounds sort of boring, doesn’t it? try again. 

The International Organization for Standardization (ISO), for example, defines it being an “organizational function which integrates people, place, and process within the built environment with the goal of improving the grade of life of individuals and the productivity of the core business”. 

Wow. How do an occupation so critical, so action-packed therefore surrounded with chaos sound so dull ?

Now.  While pretty varied in content and format, each one of these descriptions converge with regards to the huge responsibility, skills, function, and wizardry it involves outright.
