New research by workplace expert, Acas, has discovered that greater than a third of British employers have observed their mental health support improve because the start of Coronavirus pandemic.
Acas commissioned YouGov to ask businesses in Britain about if they had seen a big change to employee mental health and wellness support within their organisation since the start of pandemic. The poll discovered that 36 % said it had improved; nearly one in 10 (9 %) said it had got worse; half (50 %) reported it as staying exactly the same; and 6 % of employers didn’t know.
Acas LEADER, Susan Clews, said: “The pandemic is a challenging period for everybody and it’s great to note that over a third of bosses have were able to enhance their organisation’s mental health support because of their staff.
“However, nearly one in 10 employers have observed this support deteriorate so it’s important for businesses to purchase the wellbeing of these workers as they start again.
“Acas has good workout and advice on how exactly to support and manage mental health and wellness at work.”
Acas advice for employers on managing mental health during Covid-19 includes:
- Be approachable, encourage and available associates to speak to you if they’re having troubles;
- Retain in regular connection with your team to check on how they’re coping;
- Be understanding towards the concerns and needs of one’s staff while they work in new or unexpected ways. For instance, working at home or managing childcare while working;
- Address anybody communication preferences such as for example asking team members should they prefer to talk on the phone, through video meetings or by email; and
