Amalie Arena IAQ Improved By Pure Air Control Services

Pure Air Control Services , a nationally recognized indoor quality of air (IAQ) firm in Clearwater, FL, recently completed consulting work with Amalie Arena in Tampa Bay and procured air purification units for the 21,500 seat venue – just with time for the planet Champion Tampa Bay Lighting to take part in the National Hockey League’s Stanley Cup Playoffs. Now, the facility may be the backdrop for Games 1 and 2 (June 30) of the Stanley Cup Finals. (Through the start of National Basketball Association (NBA) season the Toronto Raptors also could actually enjoy the great things about good IAQ at Amalie Arena.)

AeraMax multi-stage HEPA air purification unit

The seven in-room AeraMax multi-stage HEPA air purification units from Building Health Check were procured through Pure Air Control Services’ partnership with Tampa Bay Trane. The units are signed up for the PURE-AeraMax support program providing extended service and support over their lifetime. They are used in the arena’s home team and team facilities away.

With an increase of people receiving COVID-19 vaccinations and infection numbers trending before several weeks downward, many sports arenas over the nation have already been allowing fans to wait events at full capacity. Leading sports arenas like Amalie Arena have already been upgrading indoor air systems to guard the ongoing health of athletes, fans and performers.

“In reaction to COVID-19, we wished to ensure our tenants and staff at Amalie Arena that people are taking every precaution mechanically to make sure artist, player, and staff safety in the relative back of house,” said Mike O’Donnell, senior director of projects and planning, Vinik Sports Group. “While we’ve worked hard to become both a WELL Health-Safety and GBAC Star Certified Facility, we wished to beat the increased filtration implemented at the air handlers already.  Pure Air Control Services was instrumental in assisting us navigate selecting the proper localized air filtration units and how it improves the indoor quality of air of the spaces.”

O’Donnell’s team is installing the AeraMax units procured through Pure Air Control Services through the entire back of house in every smaller spaces that could have multiple occupants.  Included in these are the spaces employed by touring artists, the Tampa Bay Lightning, and the NBA’s Toronto Raptors. The concourses and seating bowl are expansive to be influenced by the filtration units too, and are counting on precautions like increased outside air instead, filter sizing, along with other technology.

In previous years, Pure Air Control Services partnered with Amalie Arena through Vinik Sports Group to environmentally clean the venue’s HVAC system’s chilled water-cooling towers using its proprietary PURE-Steam Coil Cleaning processes to make sure equipment cleanliness and operational efficiency within the Healthy Buildings Program.
